Atalanta and Hippomenes

Publius Ovidius Naso, otherwise just known as Ovid, was a famous Roman poet who composed the Metamorphoses  in 8 C.E. The Metamorphoses is a 15 book poem spanning from the Earth's creation to the reign of Julius Caesar. In 8 C.E. he was exiled from Rome by Augustus and died in exile. Emperor Augustus banished him to Tomis, or modern day Romania. The reason was likely his scandalous Ars Amatoria written in 1 C.E. and his alleged involvement in a conspiracy.
